SKU: S1.SMP-1175

Composed by Jimmy Van Heusen, Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Billy Byers. The Jazz Masters Series. Score and parts. Published by Sierra Music (S1.SMP-1175).

As recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on the album "Frankly Basie; Count Basie Plays the Hits of Frank Sinatra," this is a classic arrangement by Billy Byers. Byers, much like Quincy Jones, provided the Basie band with some of their best music ever recorded. "The Second Time Around" is a slow swinging masterpiece. It is a great, dynamic chart that will stretch your band to play both very loud and very soft, and it will certainly be a favorite with your audiences. While much of this chart features the ensemble, there is solo space for trumpet and a few written out Basie-esque solos for piano. Every band should have this in their library! 5-5-4-4.
