The explanations are accompanied by hundreds of written and recorded examples. Each presented style is concluded by a complete composition. Also included are an extensive discography and biography, a glossary as well as numerous photos of Brazilian artists. Antonio Adolfo grew up in a musical family in Rio de Janeiro. His teachers include Eumir Deodato in Brazil, and the great Nadia Boulanger in Paris. From 1964-67 he led his own trio, recorded two albums for rca, and toured with singers Elis Regina and Milton Nascimento. Teaming up with a lyricist, Adolfo wrote tunes that gained great success, and have been recorded 500 times by such artists as Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Herb Alpert, Earl Klugh, Yutaka, and others. He has won the International Brazilian Song Contest on two occasions. In 1985 Mr. Adolfo created his own school which has more than 700 students. 143 pages.
