The composer had known maestro Starker since 1990 and had corresponded with the famed cellist for many years. The sad news of Starker's passing in the spring of 2013 gave birth to the initial eight notes of the piece. Premiered in July of 2013, at P. Buckley Moss Museum in Waynesboro, VA, "Homage to Janos Starker" prompted standing ovation and numerous laudatory comments from the audience. Approximate duration 6 minutes.
