Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032033. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862504).

Here is a piece whose materials come from three eras. The church mode of the Phrygian is of medieval origin. The format of the Invention is a Baroque keyboard staple.Yet, the combination of the two elements would not be found in either era, and is distinctly modern. The subject is a nice Baroque Era figure in three-note groups, ornamented in the middle with a triplet tucked inside, and a quarter-eighth countersubject, all moving through the white key world that is Not C Major, but E Phrygian. Contrary, similar, and oblique motion are all used throughout the piece, as sometimes one voice is stationary while the other moves, or they move together or in opposite directions. A slower, stately feeling suits the elegance of the ornamented subject. Audio clip is at the recommended tempo. MBB.
